Richmond
Richmond is the main town in Swaledale and is fast becoming known as the Cultural Capital of the Dales.
This is an excellent place to stay in what is simply a great location! Just 4 miles from the Scotch Corner junction of the A1M and the A66, situated between the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.
Richmond is the half-way point on Wainwright's Coast-to-Coast National Trail. Some walkers use Richmond as their base and come with a driver to deliver and collect them from each day's start and finish points.
Whilst it isn't far from main roads, Richmond is a small, rural market town and a friendly place to visit, with an award-winning Information centre and an ideal mix of shops, pubs, restaurants, theatre, museums, cinema, castle, parks, abbey & swimming baths, and countryside with walks, cycling, riding & beautiful Swaledale winding its way west of the cottage.
On a Saturday stroll to the weekly market to browse, chat and buy fresh fruit, veg and fish. In 2018 the town was shortlisted as a champion Great British High Street and in 2019 was presented with a Silver Gilt award in Yorkshire In Bloom.
